Juliette Price, Interim Director

Juliette has been with the Albany Promise partnership since 2015, after serving as Education Policy Manager for SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, where she managed various aspects of the education pipeline and multiple initiatives related to cradle-to-career partnerships, teacher education, and statewide education policy, focusing on using evidence-based interventions to improve the lives of students and families across the state.

In 2013, Juliette led the development and implementation of the New York State Master Teacher Program, a program which created a state-wide network of the highest-performing STEM teachers that are dedicated to sharing expertise with peers and attracting the brightest minds to a career in STEM. Juliette also staffed Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's New NY Education Reform Commission, which brought together nationally-recognized education, community, and business leaders to recommend reforms to the state's education system in order to improve performance in the classroom so that all of New York's students are fully prepared for their futures.

Juliette served as the chief content curator of the SUNY Critical Issues in Higher Education national conference. In 2013, the conference explored the use of Big Data to build a smarter university, and in 2014, the conference explored the concepts of large-scale change and collective impact. Nearly 450 educators, business leaders, and thought leaders attend each conference.

Mark Bobb-Semple, Community Engagement Manager

Mark Bobb-Semple is a native of Guyana, South America. He has lived in Albany, NY since the age of seven. He attended TOAST Magnet School, Hackett Middle School, and is a proud graduate of Albany High School. For over two decades, Mark has committed himself professionally and personally to helping individuals realize their full potential and has been specifically dedicated to working with teens and their family helping them to achieve success.  He is a staunch proponent of education, a strong advocate for African-American and Latino students obtaining a college education; and Mark strives to educate and empower the community on various social issues.

After graduating from SUNY Plattsburgh, Mark began his career with the Professional Development Program at SUNY Research Foundation and the Urban League of Northeastern NY. He then dedicated over twenty five years of his life to the betterment of youth and teens, especially in the African American and Latino communities through an impactful career at the Liberty Partnership Program, 15-LOVE Tennis Program, City of Albany Park & Recreation, and the Capital District YMCA Black & Latino Achievers Program. Mark also co-founded the Urban Arts Experience, Inc., and Too Deep Entertainment, programs in which Mark performed, directed, and produced over 30 insightful and cutting-edge plays.

Mark is a well-known community leader and activist with a passion for being the voice for economic development, high-quality education, access to healthcare, and improving quality of life for our urban communities.  He currently serves as the Co-Founder and Board President of the African-American Cultural Center of the Capital Region, a new board member for the Albany Housing Authority, and the Albany High School Girls Basketball Freshman Head Coach.

Amy Svirsky, Facilitator

Dr. Amy Svirsky comes to the Albany Promise after many years as an advocate for improving outcomes for children in high needs public schools. She studied Early Childhood Education at Wheelock College and received her PhD from Cornell University, focusing on social policy and program evaluation. Most recently Amy was Project Director for a Race to the Top grant to provide Professional Development (PD) to higher education faculty in schools of education. She was also Director for Regents Commission on Disabilities. She has worked in schools as a Data Analyst and been a consult for K-12 schools on school improvement. As a program evaluator Amy designed, managed and implemented evaluation in schools and other organizations. She also has experience facilitating strategic planning and organizational change.
